Education, not personal advice

Everything on this site, in the Student Money Starter Kit, in our emails, and at our workshops is general financial education. It is not personalized financial, investment, insurance, tax, or legal advice, and it does not take your situation into account. A free money chat is a conversation, not a plan: no advisor relationship exists until you and an advisor agree to one in writing, and nothing here is an offer to sell or a recommendation to buy any product.

Who our advisors are and how they are paid

Your money chat is free and comes with no obligation. Our advisors are licensed life insurance agents in Ontario. If you later choose to buy a product through one of them, they may receive a commission from the product provider. We explain how that works before you decide anything.

Numbers change

Contribution limits, loan rules, tax credits, and interest rates change, often every year and sometimes by province. We check our figures when we publish them and review them regularly, but always confirm the current number with the Government of Canada, your province, or your financial institution before you act on it.

No guarantees

Saving, investing, and paying down debt involve risk and depend on your choices, your income, and markets. We do not guarantee any result. Student stories and quotes on this site describe one person’s experience, are shared with their written permission, and are not a promise of what will happen for you. How a TFSA grows depends on what you hold inside it and on market conditions. Past results do not predict future results.

Dorms to Dollars is for adults. You must be 18 or older to book a chat, get the kit, or join a workshop.

Using this site

You may read, download, and print our content for your own personal, non-commercial use. The Dorms to Dollars name, logo, wording, and design are ours; please do not copy them, present them as your own, or use them to suggest we endorse something we have not. Do not submit false information through our forms, send us other people’s details without their permission, or try to interfere with how the site works.

We link to government and other third-party sites because they are useful. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.
